My Students
We are filled with joy and excitement every morning when we enter our classroom. We are fortunate to be able to work with a fantastic group of students. They are the most hard working, caring, and supportive group of students ever! They are goal setters and achievers. They impress us each and every day! One can learn so much from just being around them.
They are an unique group of students who have a special zest for learning.
They are an inspiration to everyone they meet. The students are in a self contained special education classroom. They have the opportunity to work with a paraprofessional, aide, and myself throughout the day. The students are identified as having multiple disabilities, autism,or an intellectual disability. They push through their individual roadblocks and keep learning their number one priority.
My Project
Florescent lighting can cause headaches, eyestrain, and anxiety in students. Using the light filters will decrease many problems for the students which will allow them to increase quality work time. The table will allow a comfortable work space for students who are unable to sit at a more traditional desk. Space is critical for students with autism or for students who have anxiety. The headphones/earmuffs will assist in decreasing anxiety and undesirable behaviors as well for the students, especially in louder settings such as music and lunch.
We strive to provide a warm, calm, and safe environment for the students, but some circumstances are beyond our control.
The items that are being requested will have an immediate direct effect on each student and improve their well being. Students can not learn if they are anxious... please help our class to improve our environment, so that learning can take place in a calm state.
