Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school where half of the students we serve come from low-income families. We provide behavior intervention services for general education and special education students that have challenging behaviors that make it difficult to remain in their classrooms.

We provide social and emotional interventions as well as incentives to encourage good behavior.

We work to make sure that we address the needs of the whole child to help them to be more successful in their classrooms.

My Project

We would like to add a sensory room to our school. Sensory rooms are therapeutic spaces that provide students with sensory input. This can benefit students by providing them with a sense of calm and comfort that can help them manage their emotions, focus their attention, and decrease their stress levels.

A sensory room would not only benefit the students that have complex emotional needs but it would also benefit our students with autism, ADHD, and anxiety.

I feel like a sensory room would support many of the children in our school.

The main components that we will need to create a sensory room are motor activities, lighting, and cozy seating.

Please help us provide cozy seating in the sensory room for our students at school.
