This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from many situations that are not always pleasant. Many come to school with trauma on a daily basis and have a difficult time making it through the school day. Since beginning my own yoga practice several years ago, I have found a sense of peace and calm that allows me to deal with the daily stressors of life. I would love to earn my 200 hour yoga certification along with the Social-Emotional Learning for Educators component from Breathe For Change.

This training will allow me the opportunity to provide yoga and SEL activities to my students.

I plan to offer a free after school yoga/SEL club open to all students. Not only will this club help them to stay fit and healthy, but students will be able to understand their emotions and to better deal with stress and difficult situations.
