Calm, Happy, and Thriving Second Graders

Help me give my students a relaxing, beautiful place to take chances and make mistakes. We need an LED artificial aquarium, pencil box, calming corner set, emotion plush toys, play tent, and skill building sets.

My Project

Thank you so much for any contribution you can make to our classroom project. I chose items that will give my students the ability to relax, work, and play creatively. The second grade curriculum continues to increase in rigor. I am cognizant that many students in my classroom experience anxiety. I stress growth mindset and reiterate that mistakes help us grow, however, I see students in tears.

I think having a welcoming designated area in the classroom for students to visit when they become overwhelmed will be a gift to all.

I am requesting items that I will put into my classroom library. The classroom library is a place where many students request to go when they are overwhelmed and they need a place to calm down.

The reading materials I requested are for students who are struggling with reading so they have books they can read independently. The flower cushions are for students to have a place to sit on comfortably and also to add to the beauty of our library.

The shades are to help create a calming atmosphere. The LED fish tank will also be placed in the library area. That will help with calming and de-escalating students.

The pencil boxes are for each student to place their sensory items in for storage. The stickers are for labeling the pencil boxes.

I also requested items that will encourage students to work cooperatively to help students who are feeling socially anxious. That is why I included some games like Uno, Mancala, and building blocks.

This project is focusing on the whole student, specifically the social, emotional, and mental health of my students.
