Help me give my students a safe space where students can calm down and reflect on their emotions, triggers, and behaviors, having a bean bag chair is a comfy place to relax while managing their emotions.
The population of the students at the school is ethnically and culturally diverse. A majority of the students are from low-income families. As a result of missing in-person school for a year and a half, many students have been struggling with social skills and regulating emotions. Students are often speaking with me in an effort to improve their coping skills.
My Project
The supplies that I am requesting will help to create a safe calm down space where students would be able to spend time reflecting on their emotions and triggers and the behaviors associated with them. The bean bag chair will provide an inviting, comfortable space where students can sit while utilizing sensory toys, partaking in mindfulness activities, reading and/or coloring. Often students meet with me to talk about emotional difficulties they are experiencing for a multitude of reasons. Having a healthy mind and body allows for a student to reach their full academic potential.
