My students are educated in a self-contained Therapeutic Emotional Support Classroom. They come from different backgrounds and all have diverse educational needs. The classroom is multi-age, so a variety of material is needed to reach all students.
My students are economically disadvantaged.
They have autism and/or behavioral difficulties. They need materials and instruction to keep them interested and engaged. They are a great group of kids who need some extra TLC. They are ready to take on new challenges and begin to soar.
My Project
My students have anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and anger issues. Crafting helps them center themselves and calm down. When their hands are busy, their minds are busy, and the calming process begins! We utilize crafting during social skills time to develop coping strategies, to teach mindfulness and to celebrate creativity. I’m asking for painting supplies (brushes, paints, cups, paper) to promote all of the above skills. The crafting kit, buttons and sequins will be used to make collages about feelings and coping strategies. These items will be amazing in aiding us to help our students to express themselves in a healthy and effective manner.
