Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It makes my teacher heart full of joy when I see my pre-Kindergarten students enthusiastic and passionate about learning. They mostly come to school excited, ready to learn and thrive. But learning halts when at times they are over-stimulated and have big emotions that they need to define, process, and work through in order to de-escalate and find their balance.

Help me create an emotionally safe and calming space where my 4 and 5-year students can go to reflect, regulate and reset their emotions and well-being.

Your donation well provide sensory materials that will soothe and regulate their nervous system: soft bean bags that mold and hug their small bodies, weighted plush items that will comfort and touch their skin, books with visually pleasing images, and tactile pages to help them focus. In addition, we are learning to name our feelings, emotions, and moods as well as practice strategies to relax, breathe deeply and overall be kind to ourselves. Having a calming corner in our class shows that we honor and respect our whole being.
