Help me give my students a place where they can calm down when they're experiencing sensory overstimulation or having difficulty working through a tough emotional task. The inviting area will give them a designated spot to calm down.

My students are an energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate group of upper elementary students who come to school everyday ready to work through their learning and emotional disabilities to become fluent readers and mathematicians in our classroom of Diverse Learners. My students look forward to meeting their goals and celebrating their achievements with their home, classroom, and school communities.
Despite the odds, my students work hard to achieve their personal and classroom goals to prepare them for success in upper grades and in high school.
They actively collaborate to make sure each student is held accountable to putting forward their best effort each day to meet their goals.
The materials in my wishlist will go to good use - and will be used often! They will be used to replace the outdated, dirty, and decaying materials in our current calm-down corner. Currently, when experiencing an emotional outburst where students aren't able to express their needs without first calming down, my assistant and I attempt to have students calm down in our current corner. However, students are reluctant to sit on a dirty carpet with broken chairs and smelly pillows.
Having an inviting and sensory-stimulating space for my students will give them a corner of their own where they can put their self-regulation strategies to use when experiencing a triggering situation.
My students endure many traumatic experiences at home that have left several unsure of how to regulate and recognize their emotions. With this space in our classroom, I know my students will be excited to utilize the space to regulate their emotions so that they may better articulate their needs to prevent an outburst from occurring.
