My Students
I teach the best students in the world! I am a special education teacher and service a wide range of students.
While some have simple learning disabilities and require help on regular classroom assignments, others are in need of more intentional support to be successful.
I service students who are easily distracted and upset by external stimuli. Many are triggered by inconsistent schedules, traumatic events at home, and events that may transpire throughout the school day. My students have difficulty calming down on their own and do not possess the coping strategies to bounce back from a challenging moment. Although they require so much additional assistance, they deserve to be supported with the materials to make them just as successful as their classmates who are able to regulate their own emotions.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in my students' learning by providing an avenue for them to be successful. Many of my students struggle on the day-to-day basis, but thrive when provided the right materials and support to do so.
This sensory play will benefit my students' coordination, socialization, and exploration.
So many of my students need sensory items to calm down, focus, and eliminate external distractions. The kinetic sand and supplies allow students' focus and energy to be narrowed in on a positive activity. The sequin pillows and fidget toys will provide a similar feeling. These supplies will help with social-emotional development because it will provide students with a new coping mechanism to use instead of tantrums or becoming overwhelmed.
