My Students
I work for a Title I school where 100% of my students receive a free breakfast and free lunch. My students come from low-income families, poor neighborhoods, and difficult situations. My students are English Language Learners with diverse needs who are are creative, talented, amazing, and funny. They are a group of third and fourth graders with Autism. Creating a safe calm classroom is ideal for learning. They are inquisitive, dreamers, innovators, and love to explore different worlds through reading and imagination.
My Project
Creative seating in a calm classroom with help my students grow and explore in various ways. My vision is to create a space where relaxing and calm reading happens and a place to rest is the norm. Students with autism need brain breaks often and sometimes it looks like just relaxing with a book in a quiet corner in a beanbag for independent time. I often play zen music to relax my students after long periods of learning. Offering flexible seating to my students with this carpet and beanbag chairs would be a wonderful way to calm a busy, overactive mind. Just breathe, relax, and take a much needed break.
