Mrs. Lesnansky from Youngstown OH is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students chair socks for their desks and chairs to help quiet the noise that comes with first graders' movements.

We are a first-grade classroom in an inner-city neighborhood in Youngstown, Ohio. The per capita income of the families of the children in our district is $18,169 according to the ACS 2016 Census data. Roughly 54 percent of the children under 18 live in poverty. The students are wonderful, engaging children working hard to become productive, responsible citizens of a global society.
The goal of our class is to build the foundation skills necessary for future success by employing state-of-the-art technology, research-based educational practices, and partnerships with parents and the community.
We want all of our children to meet and surpass state standards and flourish emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually.
The materials I am requesting will help to muffle the sounds of chairs and desks being moved around by our first-grade students. The quiet in turn will promote a more peaceful and calm classroom.
Classrooms that purposefully and consciously create calm and quiet environments are supporting feelings and attitudes that will help children feel safe, and consequently promote learning through a sense of lower the stress levels within their growing bodies giving them the space they need to take the chances and the risks required to grow emotionally, socially, physically and academically.
Children need a calm and quiet atmosphere to learn.
