My Students

The students from my school live in one of the poorest Congressional Districts in the country. Many of our students are English language learners who live day-to-day and view coming to this public school as a way to escape their home lives. Some don't even have homes to go to! We try our best to provide students with access to after school programs and technology, but with major budget cuts, we can no longer afford to fund student-centered projects. It has become increasingly difficult to offer services to our English Language Learners as well as our large population of students with Special Needs.

My Project

We currently have about five Chromebooks with no place to safely store them. We use the Chromebooks in a variety of ways but charging them can become problematic and so can securing them. A laptop cart that locks will give us a secure location to both lock and charge the laptops.

Providing my students with access to technology and keeping that technology safe is a priority of mine.

Our school is a community school and is always being used by outside groups so we have to make sure that our laptops are secured. We are very excited to almost have a resolution to our problem.
