This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Dr. Seuss once said, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" I want to take to my students on a reading journey that will take them places many never dreamed of being able to go.
I am a third year teacher in a Title 1 school.
I have the pleasure of guiding and facilitating learning for 41 eager minds. My school has taken on departmentalization and I have the pleasure of working with 41 third grade students in the area of literacy and writing. Being a Title 1 school, we are provided many resources to help our students succeed, but my classes are in need of materials that will support Balanced Literacy.
My Project
The requested materials will support my students as growing readers. The Back Jack chairs are a way for my students to be more comfortable when they are reading in their "sweet spot." We currently have a small library corner, but we would love to have some portable and comfortable "sweet spots!" The leveled library sets will help expand my growing library. The books will also allow students to keep more books in their book bins. The variety of leveled books will support the wide range of reading abilities I have in my classes. Not only will the materials help my students continue to build their love for books, but will also teach them responsibility and how to care for materials.
The requested items will improve the number of available books for my students to choose from.
The Balanced Literacy Program requires students to be exposed to a variety of texts that are specifically leveled. With your help, my students will have more opportunities and choices. My students' lives will be greatly impacted by your donation because it will help them on their journey towards becoming life long readers and learners!
