My Students

Our school educates the whole child through a balanced curriculum of art, academics, music, and handwork. At our public charter school, we strive to provide Waldorf education to those who would not otherwise have the means. The children in our charter school are from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Our school community is strong and active. My class has grown up together in the same small school with the same students and main class teacher since 1st grade. As a community of learners, our students support each other and there is a familial feeling cultivated as the students grow and experience the curriculum together.

My Project

Handwriting is an art form that is quickly being forgotten in this digital age. Recent studies have shown the importance of teaching cursive in school because it helps develop motor skills, it reinforces learning, and can help those with learning differences such as dislexia.

In our school, handwriting is taught with reverence for proper form and beauty.

Throughout the early elementary years, children learn print and cursive. In the sixth grade, the students are introduced to calligraphy where it is further developed in seventh and eight grades. In order to master this art, the children need pens that will last them all of middle school. Your donation will help bring this dying art form back to life.
