My students need more materials for their California Missions and Natives Unit. We need more that just one copy so that more students may circulate the information.

My Students

Our school is a school that loves to read! Our community is primarily 98% Hispanic with students that come from a high poverty/low income families. Although the financial resources are low, the involvement and volunteer rate is high. This school surrounded by a very supportive surrounding community.

We are focused on literacy and how to better improve our literacy.

Giving the students literature that they love to read is a goal to encouraging the continued interest and love for reading.

My Project

Every year, the 4th grade learns all about the History of California, particularly about the Missions and natives. There is never enough materials for the students to circulate for research on their presentations. One book at a time is not an efficient way to distribute access to information to 30 students.

These fourth grade students need access to information by having these materials made available to them through multiple copies, and a variety of materials, in a timely manner.

Having more that one copy of any material, and a variety is our goal. Our students deserve the access to them.
