My students are unique and amazing! Over the years, I have taught students with specific learning disabilities, speakers of other languages, students with special needs, and students who are considered gifted in one or more subject areas. This year, I will specialize in Exceptional Student Education.
First graders are full of energy and curious about everything.
They are eager to please their teacher and their parents. My students have a wide range of abilities, so they need learning materials with a wide range of ability levels as well. It is also important to keep them engaged with fun visual and hands-on activities.
Every morning, our day will start with a morning meeting in order to promote community building and social interaction. After our morning meeting, we will move onto calendar math where we will practice telling the date and time, having number talks, and reviewing basic math and graphing concepts. These calendar math books will be very useful for the kids to record what they are learning and practice their math skills in a quick and efficient manner.
I am also requesting fidget bags for my students to use when they are feeling stressed or are having difficulty concentrating.
I have several autistic students who need tactile stimulation to help them focus. I would also like a class set of clear bags to hold our reading books that each student is working on.
