I am teaching Algebra 2 and Geometry courses to different grade levels. My students are great students. They are diverse learners, some favor Math and some dislike it; however, as they are getting used to the way I teach them, they begin to embrace my strategy and learn with me.
"Mathematics is not about equations and algorithms, it is about understanding." Every day, they learn new things, they hate it at first, however, when simple patterns are presented, they slowly understand it and they will try to do them on their own and they end up understanding the lesson collaboratively.
I like how they are able to help and brainstorm with each other, it makes me professionally satisfied seeing this classroom scenario every day.
Calculators are simply a tool students use to help solve problems. Since they eliminate tedious computations and algebraic manipulations that discourage many students, calculators allow more students to solve problems and appreciate the power and value of mathematics in the world today.
The implementation of calculators and computer technology into mathematical curricula at every level of education is vital to the advancement of mathematical teaching and learning.
Calculators are powerful learning tools that allow students to experience the richness and value of Mathematics by greatly reducing the need to execute paper and pencil computations and algebraic manipulations.
