My students come from a background of low socioeconomic background.
Many of the students come to the school for a place they feel loved; get a free meal; feel like they belong. Because of this culture, the school does not have a lot of money to spend on several needed things to make the students successful. It is my desire to help reach to the students and show them that people really do care about their success and their future.
My Project
I have requested a classroom set of calculators. With these calculators, I will be better able to teach my students the information that I need to cover in Integrated Physics and Chemistry. In the class, we perform many, many mathematical calculations and having a classroom set of calculators that all function will increase the students goal of mastering the material. It is hard teaching students when not all of my equipment functions properly. This really shows up on tests and quizzes. Students must share calculators because some are not working properly. If each student has a nice scientific calculator that they can use, will make them feel special and successful!
Like I have said before, these scientific calculators will allow the students to focus more on the concepts they are taught in Integrated Physics and Chemistry instead of the math that they have to perform.
