Mr. Kurtz from Cleveland OH is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students calculators that are free from battery acid, cracked screens, and eye-straining displays.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our students are a diverse cross-section from across the city. We have students from all races, students who are English-language learners, students with learning difficulties, students who take accelerated college course work, students who may be the first in their family to graduate high school, the first to go to college, or the first to attend formal school at all.
Our students celebrate their differences and support each other within our shared school culture.
Our students work together to create positive relationships and traditions to promote learning.
Currently, we have a variety of broken, battery acid-filled TI-84 Plus calculators at our school. We are beginning to run low on inventory and, at the end of the day, students need this technology to not only learn in the classroom but to be competitive students for future college and career opportunities.
These calculators would enhance mathematical learning for all students by providing them with the industry-standard technology needed for success on high-stakes school, state, and national tests.
These students didn't choose to be thrown into a test-hungry environment and we as educators need to provide them with the proper tools to be successful. However, who will provide the educators with the proper tools to provide to the students?
It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
