My students need calculators for their math and science projects. They are allowed to use a calculator on their tests which have complicated word problems.
The students in my school are a dynamic, multicultural group that love to work with math. We just got started on competing globally online with other students around the world! This has enhanced their enthusiasm towards all math work The focus will be to make my students more fluent with the math process. They love to do multiple step word problems that challenge them and make them develop their math aptitude.
They are always growing and changing as they become scholars!
When they take risks with using new math skills, they will sometimes make a mistake. They have learned to love the mistakes because it makes them stronger in more ways than just math.
My Project
My students are able to do much more rigorous work using a calculator. They enjoy inquiry based projects and projects that they themselves can initiate. I love it when my students share with me their dreams for after they graduate from college. We use those aspirations as the focus of our math inquiry projects.
Our students need the fundamental tools in order to succeed in today's competitive society!
Use of the calculator builds an eagerness in my students to stretch their minds on all kinds of math investigations. One project involves architectural skills which have real applications to their own lives.
