Help me give my students easy to use, practical 12-digit desktop calculators that will be used in all sorts of STEM activities that involve calculations of numbers.
My class is full of inquisitive and active students. They show an interest in what is happening in the world around them. As a class, we enjoy looking at graphs and statistics that involve real-life situations. Some of these statistics involve percentages, differences, increases and decreases.
Calculators will open up a hands-on world of understanding for my students.
There are many hands-on situations where calculators will help my students to analyze how the business, social, and scientific world operates. These types of activities will help students be a part of the world and help them see a vision of the future, a future where they are active in a rewarding STEM-related occupation.
My Project
This project will help students double-check their hand worked answers. They need to see ways to verify that their work is accurate. It is fun to analyze real world situations.
Rewards are great when students confirm that their calculations are correct and they are on a winning learning process.
I want these students to learn the skill of being accurate in their calculations. I first want them to know the fundamentals of how to do calculations without the use of calculators and have the satisfaction that comes when they use calculators and confirm they have correct calculations. There are many examples of statistics where students can use calculators. they can calculate increases or decreases (either in numbers, dollars, or percentages). They can track stock prices of businesses over a period of time. Calculations and observations such as these will open up their minds to the possibilities that exist in the business world that is outside of the classroom.
