As an urban school in downtown Raleigh, we get a diverse group of students. Not all of our students have, nor can they afford calculators. As math gets more complicated for our sixty eighth grade students, math problems require the use of a good calculator. Although we allow the kids to borrow the few (literally three) that we have, we are always short. We desperately need about thirty calculators. They do not need to be graphing calculators, but they do need to be scientific calculators (with exponential functions, pi, square root, etc.) These calculators would stay at school and be used year after year, helping hundreds of students develop their math skills.
