My students need graphing calculators to be successful in 8th Grade Mathematics and High School Math 1. This course revolves around the use of a graphing calculator and TI-83 works well without being the newest.

My Students
Our school ranges from Grades five through eight. It is a small rural school with a wide range of students. We are a Title 1 school and we receive 100% free breakfast and lunch for all students.
Although our school is brand new, we are still lacking in some technology needs for the classroom.
There are 15 core subject teachers in the school, making only 3-4 teachers per grade level. If you were to put that together you would see that it makes one team per grade level.
My Project
Math is a focus area for our school this year. We are trying to increase our test scores as much as possible. We truly want each child to understand how to use the calculator and it is hard to teach that without every child having their own.
Our goal this year is to have enough graphing calculators for all 7th and 8th grade students to use one.
This would allow for students to possibly even be able to take them home to help with homework since most students can't afford to buy one. We live in a technology world so having access to more technology that is educational will enhance students learning.
