This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to me from many other high schools in the Denver area. Many of my students have become disenfranchised from the traditional education setting, and have decided to attend our school because they don't want to give up their dream of graduating. We help them through credit recovery and facilitate their ability to catch up and graduate. I strive to help my students learn perseverance and problem solving skills they can take with them in their career and their personal lives.

My Project

My students can't afford to buy graphing calculators, yet they need critical math skills these facilitate, to be college ready. Many of them are fascinated by the math that is possible when using these for statistical regressions or graphing transformations of functions.

My students need to be able to compete with other students who have access to this advanced technology.

These calculators will allow them to make deeper and faster connections to mathematical concepts. I am excited to see how their learning can be expanded with the capability this will provide. Your donation will provide this technology for my current students, and for those in years to come. You will also ensure that my students have these calculators for use on the SAT, and this will help to level the playing field with other students.
