My students need 32 calculators that will help them get to the heart of problem solving which is what math is all about.

Problem solving is such a big part of mathematics, so why can't my students use technology to help them solve their problems faster. My students EOCT allows 2 minutes per problem, so having better calculators will help them save time on the simple arithmetic and get to the heart of the problem.
Our students live in a high poverty county (over half qualify for reduced lunch) and attend a Title 1 school, near a military base in coastal Georgia.
The student body consists mostly of children from military families who have been in several schools before they reach us in high school. Because they are so mobile, they have gaps in their education which most often is seen in the area of mathematics. Let's face it, math is hard in the best of circumstances. Help us teach the required material with the supplies necessary for students to have the best chance at a good future when they graduate.
A good foundation makes such a difference, and passing tenth grade mathematics is a great way to start on a successful path in high school. Today, the mathematics curriculum is not in a book, it is real world applications and critical thinking. Students are required to learn and apply their knowledge. Tasks that have the students engaged in discovering how mathematics applies to the world, are essential to their future success. With the rigor of the common core standards, learning mathematics without a calculator is not an option. Please help me provide the opportunity for success in mathematics for my students and help them to become College and Career Ready. My students need 32 advanced scientific calculators to facilitate problem solving in real world mathematics applications to help them become College and Career Ready.
We use problem solving strategies in mathematics each day, but sometimes the complicated arithmetic obscures the beauty of mathematics in the world.
Many of my students feel that they cannot be successful in mathematics, but the truth is that they understand the mathematical ideas and are just making arithmetic errors! Please help me fix these calculating conundrums by providing advanced scientific calculators for my students.
