My Students

Students at our school are pretty awesome! It's great connecting with and teaching 7th-grade students. Every day is an adventure. During our year in math, we transition from only using paper and pencil to solve problems to using a calculator.

My Project

In 7th grade math, we begin our year with 4 chapters of materials that focus on number sense using natural numbers, whole numbers, and integers. As we transition into our last 6 chapters we use those concepts and apply the material to more real-life applications. These chapters allow students to use a calculator to take the concepts to a deeper level of understanding. We use them to compute the pricing of items with discounts and mark-ups; area and surface area of many different geometric shapes; rates and ratios; scales of drawings, and probability applications.

The TI 30 scientific calculator is on our supply list, but many students do not come to class with this supply.

The calculators will be stored in our classroom for each class of students to have access to the device.
