My Students

As a Media Coordinator in a high poverty/rural area, it becomes necessary to be creative with materials and the terms "reduce, reuse, and recycle" are everyday terms.

Our students are top-notch!

They are smart, they are hard-working and driven, and they deserve the world. They are also proud of their heritage and what that means.

Many are being raised by single parents, or grandparents, and receive free or reduced lunch. This socioeconomic status does not prevent each one from needing a place to study, read, collaborate, or just to feel safe, or to have the tools necessary to their success.

My Project

At our school, the students must share calculators with different classes and with multiple students. Adding several new Texas Instrument TI-84 Graphing calculators to the group will allow more students to have individual access to tools that are beneficial to their coursework.

Many of our students take online college courses and upper-level Calculus and Trigonometry course, as well as Chemistry and Physics, so these calculators will not only help them in their basic courses but also in the next steps in their career paths.

As an educator, it is my goal to ensure that each student leaves the school prepared for the next step in his or her educational path. Providing up-to-date equipment will give each one an edge that he or she may not have had before.
