Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students that I work with this year are a bright bunch. They come from lower income, working families. They have the necessities but not much extra. They are made up mostly of students of the Hispanic background. They have a love for learning and they can go a long way with the right push. 98% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. My students have responsibilities at home that makes it difficult for them to function at one hundred percent when they come to school (making dinner, caring for younger siblings). They take what they have however and make the most of it. They may not have all their supplies but they always have a smile and are ready to learn.
My Project
Since the aftermath of Harvey our school has been rebuilding and replacing any technology and school supplies lost due to the storm. Our classroom has be blessed with a printer, which we desperately needed, but we do not have a printer cord. Once we have that cord we would be able to connect our printer and start printing out our pictures for science fair. In math we use tons of sticky notes to show our work or to learn a new way to solve the problem. We are down 3 packs. Without the sticky notes we would not be able to continue with our awesome note taking technique.
