Help me give my students a set of Jason Reynolds novels to read over the next couple of months so they can continue to participate in independent reading as well as improve their fluency.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love reading and none of them have access to the public library at this time. I would love for them to have copies of Jason Reynolds novels to read. I would love them to have an opportunity to build their personal library with some of Jason Reynolds popular titles, since he is the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature.
These books will be a great tool for keeping my students engaged and are high-interest.
Jason Reynolds weaves complex, beautiful and gripping plots around the experiences of black teenagers in urban settings.
My Project
Several students are starting to get bored sitting at home and they want to read a books they wind down for the night. My students can bond with their family over a Jason Reynolds novel. I envision the whole family sitting together asking trivia questions, having a discussion, and eating some treats.
These materials will help students bond more with their family, as well as, keep their imagination going.
My students will appreciate these books because the diverse characters deal with the same issues that they have encountered in their daily life.
