Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Magandang Umaga!" I greet my kindergartners in the morning. "Magandang Umaga," they respond. Tagalog was our featured language of the month, so every school day in March, my students and I would greet each other in the morning with "Magandang Umaga" and would part ways every afternoon with "Paalam."
My kindergarten students are eager to learn; so eager in fact that even though it is difficult for some of them, they try every month to say good morning and goodbye in a language other than English.
They are some of the most spirited 5 and 6-year-old children around. They deserve a world class education and all the materials necessary for us as educators to deliver that kind of instruction to them.
Our school is good at providing our teachers with excellent professional development so that our students greatly benefit from the best instruction possible. However, with budget cuts and resource reductions, we are not always provided all the materials necessary to fully implement our grand plans. Hence, we respectfully ask our communities for their help in investing in all of our children's education. They are, after all, our future.
My Project
This Cricut machine will help my students in several ways. I plan on using it to create holiday, Mothers' Day, and Fathers' Day gifts for my students to give to their parents and guardians. I will use it to create T shirts for my students to use during our field trips or as costumes. Furthermore, I plan to use the Cricut machine to create classroom labels, standards, signs, classroom door decor, wall decorations, banners, pennants, decals, and greeting cards.
The Cricut machine can help me make my students' classroom look and feel like a kid-friendly place, thereby boosting their motivation to learn and to do their best work.
In my 16 years of teaching, I have observed that students notice their environment and seem to thrive in a classroom that is pleasing to the eye. A beautiful, kid-friendly classroom would definitely foster a sense of pride and creativity in my students.
