I teach hardworking, motivated, inquisitive first graders. I absolutely love this job! My littles are always questioning, conversing, debating, engaging and most importantly, learning. We love to read, we love STEM, we love calculating and solving math problems, we love diving into science experiments, and we love to write. My students are invested in their work as well as their peers around them.
Our school is a two-time National School of Character, my six and seven year olds shine everyday.
My students are natural born leaders. They are hands on learners, they thrive when provided with interactions and experiences. Everyday is a great day in first grade, I am so lucky to call these kiddos my students!
My Project
In first grade, my students have had minimal exposure to coding. In an increasingly tech-savvy environment, coding in the primary grades is becoming quite a valuable skill! We’ve played with Cubetto, a child friendly coding robot, once this school year and the kiddos went bananas. They loved it! “How cool! We can actually make him do that without touching him!” Welcome to one of the many magical and intriguing components of coding.
My students would absolutely love two Ozobots and OSMO coding games to learn how to code.
I’ve requested two Ozobots and OSMO coding games to teach my students how to code in a kiddo-friendly manner. We already have one OSMO in our classroom and it’s a hit. I know that with a coding game for the OSMO, my students will gain coding skills quickly through learning that feels more like game play. Ozobots would allow my first graders to create pathways and coding sequences, by HAND, for their bot to follow. It’s real, hands on coding that I know they’d get a kick out of. I hope to use these materials to enhance my students coding abilities in an increasingly tech savvy world! Thank you for reading about one of our classroom dreams, we hope you’ll keep us in mind!
