My 2/3 combo classroom is a busy place. We start our day with reading followed by science, social studies, and social emotional learning. Our afternoons are full with language arts and math. We end the day our pull out classes (PE, library, health, music, and art).
Students all work at different paces and need to all be challenged in their own way.
Particularly with a combo class this year, I am hoping to fit in some easy to start (for the kids) and manage (for the teacher) technology activities for my "fast finishers". I am aiming for technology with access to apps and/or websites that are motivating and self-checking.
My 2nd and 3rd grade combo class is ALWAYS busy! At times taking turns with lessons and independent work, these kids are engaged all the time. They LOVE getting time on various math and reading websites when their work is complete.
Kids thrive on instant feedback and we will use these Chromebooks for many activities that will give them that.
Whether it is internet research, typing up writing pieces, learning and practicing math concepts, or working on reading skills, Chromebooks will help my students do all of this and more.
Taking turns with these devices will give my students access to more practice, as well as enrichment. Adding these Chromebooks to some of our other classroom technology will allow more students to get more time with their hands on technology.
