My students need new book baskets to organize our classroom library as well as a writing center to place their reading response notebooks in during reading time.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
After 5 years of teaching reading, it's time to replace my old and broken book baskets and get an organizer for writing. Consequently, my classroom is overflowing with books that need to be organized.
I am very fortunate to have a classroom full of energetic children of diverse backgrounds.
They all come to me eager to learn and are a joy to teach! The new book baskets will make a great addition to our classroom library. Every reader in my class will have access to an abundant supply of organized books.
My Project
My classroom is literacy rich in every way, but our books need a new home. However, I have been using the same recycled boxes and baskets for about 5 years. It would be nice to re-organize and make the books more accessible and appealing to all my emergent readers. My students will be able to sample books and return them and get another. Brand new book baskets and a tabletop writing center will help me get organized with books and be able to place my students response notebooks in the tabletop organizer for our Readers Workshop time. Being organized in the classroom gives more instruction time.
Please understand that my children and I believe that learning is implicitly rewarding and we really don't need much in terms of materials.
However, your donations do make our jobs as readers so much easier and it are so appreciated!
