This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from an inner city in Georgia and are often labeled as underprivileged, low-income, and under performing. It is unfortunate that they are labeled this way because my kids really rock! They work so hard everyday to show the world who they are and what they are capable of.
My school is a Title I school because all of our kids qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
The students I serve deal with environmental pressures everyday while still trying to maintain good grades. Peer pressure will sometimes get the best of them, but I know that engaging teaching and learning can make all of the difference and allow them to make better choices. It is my hope to continue to foster a fun and safe learning environment for my kids through the use science literacy.
My Project
For this project, I am asking for multiple bean bag chairs that seat two to three children at a time to allow my students to sit comfortably around my classroom. I have tried flexible seating in my classroom with the traditional materials that I have and it works! Students love that they can sit on something more comfortable and relaxing while at school. I have requested for the bean bag chairs to be different colors. This will help to spruce up the environment!
Flexible seating allows for more student engagement, creativity, participation, and enjoyment!
I want my classroom environment to foster a love for science and experimentation. Who wouldn't want to complete their work in big, comfy chairs?!
