Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Sometimes kids pack so well even their school library books get a new place to live.
A snapshot of our middle school shows a diverse high-need school comprised of about 1,100 students in grades six to eight.
Half of our student population receives free or reduced priced lunch. Approximately half of our students receive support services in addition to their core classes. Many of our students are not native English speakers. The students have all been impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
My Project
Hurricane Sandy crippled our small waterfront community. The children have lost time in school, some lived without power or heat for weeks, many families still can not return home due to water damage. The books I have requested are titles that have not been returned by children who have had to relocate.
Please help my students see new library books come into their library to replace those not returned by students who have moved away.
The children miss both their friends and the books.
