This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach second grade at an inner city school. My school receives 100% free breakfast and lunch. My students are excited to come to school and learn every day. They thrive on the support and love they get at school and it really makes a difference in their lives.
Our students come to school at least one year below grade level.
We have to work really hard to get them caught up. It really takes a village to raise a child.
My Project
Second graders love being able to work independently. They are reading and writing and don't need me every step of the way.
They want to work on projects on their own.
Clipboards allow them to be mobile and find resources in different parts of the room and the library. They like to create art projects to show what they learned. We are out of glue sticks and they are a necessity for art! The binders will give them a place to showcase their work. They can store their art project and the written report inside it. We are starting an insect unit and I would love to have these materials for that.
