Help me give my students a variety of books. I have an unconventional classroom in terms of students. My students are diverse, at different English proficiencies, and come to school with many obstacles. But they want to read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is the most culturally diverse in Anchorage, Ak. There are about one hundred and fifty-eight English Language Learners at Creekside. My students speak Samoan, Hmong, Spanish, Arabic, Native languages, and several others. Some students are refugees from other countries, and some from rural villages. My students have amazing stories about their cultures and traditions. They also have a thirst for learning. I love watching them make connections between their first language and the one they are learning.
My Project
Literally, put their learning in their hands! Books help my students with STEM projects, and give them a window to the world.
Alaska can be an isolated place, and some students have never left Anchorage.
Books really do help students "travel" to other places. The books I ordered also will help students learn about different people and different places. I also chose books that my students can make connections to either the content or the person.
Some students do not have books at home and school is the only place the students get a chance to explore all that books have to offer.
