Help me give my students the opportunity to create artwork they are able to wear and send a positive message with, impacting our school culture for the better!
My 5th and 6th graders are creative individuals that love to make. In my classroom you will hear a buzz of excitement while you see students building, painting, and creating. B. C. Public Schools is a rural/suburban community. N. Intermediate School is a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program Children for families with incomes at or below 130% of the poverty level are eligible for free meals. N. Intermediate School is considered a Title 1 school.
My students love to get messy!
My art room is a safe space for students to express themselves in ways they do not get to in other classes. Students are able to explore and try new things, while being free to take risks.
My Project
The main reasons we would like to have a button machine is to help impact positivity in our school culture. Our school has selected the word REACH for the year. It sets the following goals that we are challenging students to "reach" for this year; R- Respect - Respect others, ourselves, and everything around us, E- Effort-Give 100% effort to everything that we do, A- Attitude- Strive for a positive attitude always, C- Collaborate- work together, listen to others, build community, H- Heart, choose kindness, be compassionate. We would like to have students create buttons and hand them out when they see others who are following the goals of REACH!
Creating artwork that sends a strong message and is able to be worn, will impact many students in our building in a positive way, helping to build a stronger positive school culture.
Buttons are a great way for students to get a theme or message across to their audience, and to see students wearing buttons with positive and affirming messages, message that they have designed, would be possible with this button machine.
