Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in an inner-city public school that houses a program for Autistic Impaired Learners. We have a diverse population of students with various autism spectrum disorders.
My classroom consists of twenty-one children, two of whom are on the autism spectrum.
All my students are the kindest and hardworking students you will ever meet. They are genuinely thoughtful and selfless. Watching how all students accept one another for their unique and beautiful differences is truly amazing. I am the luckiest teacher on the planet.
My Project
With these classroom kits, my students will be able to study the real life cycle of the butterfly right in front of their eyes! How awesome to actually observe, take notes, draw, and discuss all the stages of the butterfly's life cycle in our own classroom! They will also be releasing them into the wild once they have reached the butterfly stage. They will be able to answer the question, "What are the stages in the life cycle of the butterfly?"
My students will have a better understanding of the life cycle of the butterfly by raising, feeding, and watching the metamorphosis of this creature.
This will also help my students gain more responsibility and teamwork by helping each other get smarter together. My students especially love hands-on projects. This would fascinate all of my students and help them gain more interest in science.
