Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 2nd graders are full of energy and excitement for everything! They are discovering the world and are eager to learn more about animals and nature. We need to put down the electronics and experience LIFE!
Our students come from low-income, hard-working families who value education.
They seldom have the time or extra money to enrich their child's development with extra activities like nature centers or museums, or even the beach. Further, our school is located in an area with very few trees and parks.
My Project
My students are fascinated by all things in nature especially animals and insects. Students are exhilarated to learn even the most basic facts about animals and plants. Observing the butterfly larvae will give them a new awareness and appreciation of the natural world around them. They will especially enjoy caring for the butterflies and then releasing them. The posters will help them remember the life cycle stages and understand the amazing diversity of nature. These items will give us an opportunity to investigate, hypothesize, and do further research into life cycle of the butterfly. They will be truly amazed to see the connection of all the animals and plant life in nature.
