This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of the students at our school have experienced trauma and heartache. We are one of the lowest income schools in Fresno, and many of our students have never even traveled outside of this community.

As their teachers, we want to give them as many opportunities to experience things that they never would get to otherwise.

They have the heart to be at school, they just don't all have the support that other students around the district may have in their home lives.

My Project

Our students will get to experience hands-on learning by watching the entire life cycle of a butterfly. We will have observation journals and make daily observations and sketch the phases of the cycle. They have already done a project to explain the cycle and a craft that went along with it. I know this observation of a real-life egg will help them to fully understand and engage in their learning.

They will get to watch an egg turn into a caterpillar, the caterpillar form a chrysalis, and the butterfly hatch from the chrysalis.

I know they will love this and get excited about science!
