Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager learners. They live in an urban setting and don't always have access to the materials that they need to be successful. They love to learn new things. They are curious about the world and need to be given the opportunity to investigate things they are interested in. My goal is for my students to be lifelong learners. By having lots of different materials in the classroom, it helps to give my students the tools that they need to be successful.
My Project
What better way to learn than to actually watch something happen with your own eyes! Those are the experiences that I remember from school. Every year, my class creates beautiful butterfly habitats and we observe over 50 butterflies form right before our eyes. We collect data and wait for the metamorphosis to occur. On paper, we can sketch and paint our beautiful caterpillars, chrysalises, and butterflies. With your help, I will be empowering my students through art, observation, and research.
The excitement that my students get when they see a butterfly come out of its chrysalis is amazing!
My students will not only observe and research butterflies, they will draw, diagram, and paint. Everyone will get to experience the metamorphosis that only art and science can bring to your life. I will get to watch my students soar with your help.
