My students need hands-on experiences and what better way than to have a butterfly and ladybug viewing station! The children will be able to watch the life cycle from start to finish with these projects.
My class consists of 5 and 6-year-old boys and girls, some of who are entering school for the very first time. The children are high energy and my class is a mixed ability class with some special needs where everybody shines! I have taught some of the students' older siblings and I always try to meet all of their needs and keep them engaged and excited about learning! Our classroom is in a Florida neighborhood, four miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the students are already reading while others are just emerging readers.
The students love to learn and explore.
With this amazing program, DonorsChoose gives us the ability to foster the love of learning with products we just could not afford to buy on our own. The goal is to make learning as much fun as possible and we accomplish this through your very generous donations. The caring and kindness you share touches so many lives. For this, we "thank you from the bottom of our toes to the tippy top of the moon and back!".
Students learn best when they have fun and a chance to explore. The students will learn about the life cycle of ladybugs and butterflies along with the needs during each stage. The students will observe the habitat then apply their knowledge to design a model habitat for a ladybug and a butterfly.
The students need a motivating butterfly and ladybug activity that will enhance their learning while experiencing the fun of Science.
These activities will allow the students to journal and track the life cycles of both "bugs" while we incorporate literature, math, and art into the curriculum to maximize their learning while meeting their needs.
