Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A butterfly and bird garden will encourage students to be aware of the relationship that exists among all living things. Growing a butterfly garden provides students the hands-on opportunities to learn about metamorphosis, butterfly food preferences and habitat needs, it encourages students to learn more about the topic we are currently learning, which will lead student to ask questions. Students will get to experience the life cycle of the butterflies and other nature creatures.

Gardens can accommodate students’ visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.

A growing concern is that today’s youth do not spend adequate time outdoors; gardens provide students with exposure to true nature – not just photographed nature or nature as depicted on television. My goal for students is to learn more about nature and be exposed more to outdoor learning.

My students are at an age where they are curious about everything and would experience how animals benefit the environment.
