This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are living in a community that is filled with poverty, crime, and danger. Our classroom is a loving, enriching environment where they can prosper. My students come to school hungry, tired, and neglected. Everyday I strive to make their day adventurous!

My students enjoy dramatic play, building, painting, and many other activities.

I have 12 boys and 4 girls in my classroom this year. Each student has their very own personality. They are exploring ways in which they can get their point across as well as discovering where they fit in. In this classroom, no matter who they are, or where they come from, they are a part of our family!

My Project

My kindergarten students are learning about lifecycles in Science. We have been talking about all the different stages of life for different insects. I have read stories and shown videos in our classroom of lifecycles. Science does not excite the children unless it is a hands-on project.

Butterfly gardens will allow the students to see the stages come to life right in front of their eyes!

They will be so amazed to see the caterpillars come in the containers and then shortly after while they will see the butterflies fly away.

The will gain so much knowledge from this hands on science project and be able to take this experience with them forever.
