My students have so much to learn and I am tired of wasting time because I can't find things or because our materials are misplaced! I want to transform my classroom into a place where things are neatly arranged and easy to find.
My students are an amazing group of 2nd and 3rd graders in an urban public school in Washington state.
They a positive attitude, a lot of energy, and are eager to learn new things. My students come diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and they come with many different needs but also many different gifts. They deserve a teacher who is 100% focused on them, not one who is distracted by the piles of papers and clutter around the classroom.
My Project
There are two areas of my classroom that are constantly a mess are the writing center and the small group area where I lead math and reading groups. There are many materials that students use daily for these activities (paper, whiteboards, pens, markers), but right now the materials are just piled on the counter and table, causing them to easily get ruined or lost, which in turn causes students much frustration when they try to access the materials. The storage systems I am requesting will enable us to get these areas organized, allowing me to spend less time looking for or cleaning up materials and more time focusing on my awesome students. It will also teach my students to be organized and provide them with a sense of routine, as all of the materials will have a specific place they are stored, so students always know where to find and return them.
These storage items will have a huge positive impact on our classroom!
They will provide a much needed home to the many supplies we use every day for writing, reading, and math, and they will maximize student learning time by offering an efficient way to manage those supplies.
