My Students

Every staff development meeting or training reminds me of how hard it is to sit still for hours. My students need a productive and safe way to get their energy out while still learning and sitting.

I have 35 young, enthusiastic 5th graders at a low income school and receive free or reduced lunch.

For most of them, English is a second language. In addition, most aren't provided with the luxury of participating in after school programs and activities that can promote health and well being. They love playing soccer and running. They are learning how to be a young person with exemplary character.

My Project

These stability balls will help students bodies be engaged while their minds are engaged, creating complete body engagement. Right now, students love to lean back in their chairs, or fidget with things in their desk as they feel the urge to move. Students with ADD will especially benefit.

I have a hard time sitting for an hour, and can't expect my students to do what I can't.

I want them to be able to move during school, and provide a safe way to move that doesn't distract the learning of others. Thanks for reading!
