At the end of the first grade I want my little ones to be fluent readers and Math wizards by keeping their hands and minds busy with FUN activities when they are finished their assignments.
My little ones come from very diverse backgrounds and attend an inner city public school.
They are very energetic and enthusiastic when it comes to learning in the first grade. I want to create a learning environment that will be lots of FUN for everyone!
My Project
I am requesting brightly colored dough so they can roll out "little snakes" and then shape them into letters to spell words that they are learning that week or play a sight word game with a friend to sharpen their word recognition skills. The Math Match-Ups will help reinforce their knowledge of fractions, time, money and word problem solving by matching puzzle pieces. The building set will help them to follow directions in order to produce a finished product and all of these activities will also produce smiles that will stretch across their little faces too!
I think that the flash cards, dough, games and match-up activities will be a FUN way to sharpen their newly developed skills that they are acquiring in our classroom.
My hope is to always keep their hands and minds busy this year while having FUN!
