This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low economic area in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many of my students are learning English as a second language. My students vary in academic levels, abilities, interests, etc. I try to make sure choice is always an option for students.

When students have choice they feel empowered in their learning.

They feel that they can accomplish anything. As fifth graders they are learning how choice in their learning can help better their understanding and prepare them for sixth grade.

My Project

My students are in need of book bins. Imagine having The Sorcerer’s Stone (1st Harry Potter book) ready to be read with a comfy pillow and a reading nook calling your name, you are ready to get your book and dive into the Diagon Ally with Harry Potter, but the book is now in the hands of another student that didn’t know that was your book to read. It happens and when it does there is time wasted trying to figure out the book situation. Students don’t have the time to lose books. They need to be reading and diving into their books.
