Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best students in the world! My school is located in a high-need community. Most of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have students from all different countries. My wonderful students come to school with a smile on their faces, ready to learn.
Although they struggle with extreme home situations, they often want someone to guide them into learning.
I enjoy coming to work each day and seeing their smiling faces. Some students' home lives are a bit more chaotic, which leads to a high transient rate. Quite a few of my students come from unstable homes, so the classroom needs to be the one constant in their life. They need to feel safe and provided for. Despite the many obstacles that surround them, they love to learn!
My Project
It is my goal to provide high-quality education, to challenge students at their level. Therefore, the use of academic, hands-on learning centers in our classroom will provide me the opportunity to work with smaller groups of students on specific skills. With almost thirty students in my class, it is vital for me to differentiate for all my students and to tailor instruction to meet their interests and needs.
The materials I am requesting will be used for students to learn and reinforce reading comprehension skills as they also practice their writing skills.
My students will be placed according to their level of reading, and will immediately go to their station, and begin to work in their assigned stations. Donating to this project would allow for some of those much needed resources to reach my classroom, where students will be actively engaged in exciting centers that are academically essential.
